QPL People

Research Staff

Robin Blume-Kohout (Ph.D. UC Berkeley, 2005) founded and co-leads the QPL. He has studied quantum computer characterization and benchmarking since 2005, with particular expertise in quantum tomography, and serves on the editorial review board for PRX Quantum.

Kevin Young (Ph.D. UC Berkeley, 2010) co-leads the QPL. He is an expert in the characterization, benchmarking, and modeling of quantum computers, with special expertise in trapped-ion systems. He is a 2020 DOE Early Career Award recipient for calibration of quantum computers.

Kenneth Rudinger (Ph.D. Wisconsin, 2014) is an expert in quantum computer characterization and in applying cutting-edge performance assessment techniques to real quantum computing hardware.

Timothy Proctor (Ph.D. Leeds, 2016) leads the QPL’s research into quantum computer benchmarking methods. An expert on randomized benchmarking and time-resolved characterization of quantum computers, he is a 2022 DOE Early Career Award recipient.

Stefan Seritan (Ph.D. Stanford, 2020) is the lead developer and maintainer of pyGSTi. He is an expert in scientific software and quantum chemistry.

Corey Ostrove (Ph.D. UT-Austin, 2021) is an expert on efficient deployment of gate set tomography.

Riley Murray (Ph.D. Caltech, 2021) is an expert in optimization and numerical linear algebra and one of the core developers of the CVXPY package.
